This web page from this website begins by discussing how RAM are small chips inside of the computer which are faster to access than getting information from the hard drive. It then discusses how RAM is volatile and defines the meaning of that term. It also states that once the computer shuts down the data in the RAM goes to the hard drive and then when the computer boots up it loads the files it should at start up as well as programs the user may have immediately clicked with out waiting for the boot up process to be complete. Like the book it discusses how some motherboards are not compatible with high performance RAM chips and so a new motherboard may have to be purchased if truly needed. It also speaks of nonvolatile RAM being available in the future.

This webpage from this site is very different. It begins by explaining how RAM is considered to be random access because you can access any memory cell directly if you know where the cell is located exactly. It then discusses how the opposite of RAM is SAM because it can only be accessed sequentially. It then explains how SAM is preferred for a memory card because of the sequential process and talks about how RAM is random access again. It then speaks about DRAM and how a transistor and capacitor are paired together to create a memory cell and how the capacitor holds the bit of data while the transistor allows that data to be read.

This webpage from this website is good for someone who did not have prior knowledge of RAM. It says how RAM is used to perform necessary functions while the computer is operating and how all data inside the RAM itself is equally accessible. It then speaks of a term called RAM disk which it says is a virtual drive that created by setting aside part of the RAM to use as if it were an individual group of sectors.

I would choose the WinTV-HVR1600 over the other 2 TV tuner cards I investigated. The main reason I chose was because the cost was still very high in comparison to the Sabrent SBT, it had overall better performance and higher capabilities. For the most part I like the fact that it did not need a television signal in order to work. It also has the ability to record shows on a scheduled list and can be controlled from a remote location via the network connection to my computer. Not being very well informed about tv tuner cards when I was comparing the WinTV-HVR1600 with the TVW650PCI HD 650 it seemed that there were higher warranties for a higher cost but less data on the actual performance of the card itself.
