Operations and major products.

    On April 20th, 2009 a 2 TB, 64 MB Hard drive which main focus was on green power technology was added to the product line of this company, and was reported on by the NYSE. On June 16, 2009 the company began to sell the Silicon 3 product line which had faster speeds and increased capacities in comparison to earlier models. This model utilizes mechanical scalability for smoother operations on various applications. On June 24, 20009, the company released a redesigned model which is used for network storage called the My Book World Edition 2 Dual Drive network storage which has capacities of up to 4 TB. One of their major products is an external storage device called the My Book Mirror Edition. This is a dual drive storage system which utilizes raid mirroring and comes in capacities of 1 TB to 2 TB. Another product is the My Book Studio Edition external hard drive, which can hold up to 2 TB and can utilize a quad interface. There are many models and another which I would like to mention is the My Book Essential Edition. It has a capacity of up to 2 TB and utilizes a USB 2.0.

Favorite Product.

    My product of choice is the WD elements portable hard drive. This hard drive utilizes a USB 2.0 and has a capacity of up to 500 GB. One of the good things about this type of hard drive is that it has a plug and play capability and is powered for the USB which would make its use a little bit more easier when I only need one receptacle. Another good thing is that even though it is preformatted for PCs it can be reformatted for use with Macs. Like all other external hard drives it has the abilities to store what I consider at this time mass amounts of information. So I  could use it for many things including music programs. I consider this to be my favorite product because of the fact that I spend most of my time in my car and something like this could be of great use to me.

    HP as of June 26, 2009 will give attention to the environment. A boat made out of used plastic bottles named Plastiki will set sail for Sydney, Australia from the San Francisco. HP is the official technology provider and has dedicated 10 energy efficient interactive computers for the public to use and learn about energy efficiency as far as what is better for the environment. After searching for this kind of product it came through with 4 types of writers all capable of CD and DVD. The first one is the HP dvd1140i 22X PATA Multiformat DVD Writer. This is a high speed internal drive, double layer writer. It runs around $60.00 and utilizes lightscribe to label discs. Another is the cHP dvd1170e External Multiformat DVD Writer. This drive runs around $100.00 and is a high speed external drive. Another one is the HP dvd555s 8X External Multiformat DVD Writer. This drive is very thin and runs around $85.00. The last drive that I see is the   HP dvd1170i 22X SATA Multiformat DVD Writer. This is a high speed internal drive dual layer device which runs around $65.00.

Favorite Product.

         My favorite product of the four of these would again be something which is small and easy to move. The HP dvd555s 8X External Multiformat DVD Writer is the smallest drive and is externally mounted. It can record to single or double layer DVDs and DVD RAM. And allows the user to create slide shows and backup music and data as necessary.It is compatible with windows 2000 sp4/ xp sp2 and vista 32 or 64 bit. It has a read speed of DVD-ROM up to 8X (CAV); CD-ROM up to 24x (CAV). Operations and major products.

    Kingston technology is affiliated with OEMs and semiconductor and system manufacturers in areas of engineering, testing and chip validation among other things. The company is built more towards the designer/ builder over the average customer. They make flash drives for the average consumer/ enterprise and government. For the consumer there is the Data traveler 150 which has a flash drive storing capability of 64 GB and runs around $220.00.

Another model flash drive is for the businessman who wants only himself to be have access to the flash drive and it is called the Data Traveler Vault. The user authentification is done by a privacy encrypted zone. For the government there is the FIPS 140-2 with 256-bit, hardware-based AES encryption and device lockdown after a specified number of invalid attempts for starters.

Favorite Product.

    My favorite product is the Data Traveler 410. This device features capacities up to 32 GB and has ready boost technology. After reading about that in the book I consider that to be a plus because anyway I can increase the performance of the computer which I will operate will benefit me greatly. It also utilizes password protect so I can put documents on there which I do not want others to have immediate access to such as journals and what not. It has high transfer speed if I decide to purchase that extra so I can again increase the capacity of my actions which I will take with such a device. I would say that for $200.00 price range that is very good.
